Sealed Wood Floors
The vast majority of residential hardwood floors are factory-sealed with polyurethane.
- Prevent It. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Remember, it is the grit and grime that damages and wears hardwood. Establish floor mats or throw rugs at entryways and walkways to minimize the abrasion of the seal caused by dirt and grit tracking. Colorful oriental rugs for walkways and under tables are a traditional, attractive and effective way to protect your hardwood floors. Place felt-tipped protectors on bottoms of chair legs. Keep your pets nails trimmed. Dust mop at least once a week, more frequently if heavy soil is present.
- Finish It. Finish your floors with Quick Shine® Floor Finish for a deep, rich, long-lasting and protective glow. This step allows the seal to last longer while enhancing the color and beauty of the hardwood. And for worn, dull and hazy hardwood flooring, before you take on the expense of sanding, re-staining and resealing, give our Quick Shine® Floor Finish a try. Just squirt and spread. You will be amazed how beautifully restored your hardwood floor becomes not to mention the joy you will feel when you realize the time, money and aggravation that you avoided by not sanding and resealing.
- Keep It Clean. Maintain the Quick Shine Floor Finish gloss with weekly touch up and ultra-light cleaning by simply mopping with a fresh, clean, water-dampened microfiber pad that comes with our Quick Shine® Hardwood Microfiber Mop. This method is an easy way to pick up dust and pet hair from the floor. For heavier soil use our Quick Shine® Cleaners with the hardwood mop. Footprints, pet mistakes and the everyday spills of life can be cleaned with our handy disposable Quick Spill® Floor Wipes. Use our patented, cordless Quick Shine® Glide Sweeper for heavier debris as this method is more convenient than a broom and dustpan.
- Refresh It. Refresh the shine with a new Quick Shine® Floor Finish gloss coat whenever you feel the rich glow needs a boost. As a general rule-of-thumb, high traffic floors should be refreshed every 2 months and low-traffic floors every 4 months.
Unsealed Hardwood Floors
These floors include floors that do not have a seal coat.
- Prevent It. Establish floor mats or throw rugs at entryways and walkways to minimize the abrasion of the wood grain by dirt and grit tracking. Colorful oriental rugs for walkways and under tables are a traditional, attractive and effective way to protect your unsealed hardwood floors as well. Place felt-tipped protectors on bottoms of chair legs. Remove high heel shoes before walking on floor surface. Keep your pets nails trimmed. Dust mop at least once a week, more frequently if heavy soil is present.
- Keep it Clean. Damp mop with a fresh, clean water dampened pad that comes with our Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor mop or sweep with our patented Quick Shine® Glide Sweeper in order to remove debris, dust and pet hair from the floor.
- Finish It. Many consumers tell us that Quick Shine® Floor Finish is an easy way to gloss unsealed wood. This product is much easier to apply, maintain and touch-up than oil-based urethane and wax products and has earned the DFE/EPA clean air and safer chemistry seal of approval. The de-ionized water in the formula delivers the polymer to the floor surface and is designed for quick evaporation which quickly leaves only the deep, rich glow on the floor. Try first in an inconspicuous area to be certain you will attain the results desired.
Above all enjoy your hardwood floors. Nothing enhances the value of a home more than the rich, warm, natural look of a beautiful hardwood floor which will last hundreds of years with proper care.
