HARDWOOD FLOOR CARE

Most residential hardwood floors are factory-sealed with polyurethane. Floors in older homes may have been sealed after the floors were laid. Some hardwood floors are not sealed at all. To care for any kind of hardwood floor, including newly installed floors, follow these steps:

Prevent wear. Grit and grime damages hardwood. Entry rugs and area rugs can pick up abrasive materials before they are tracked in. Use felt protectors on furniture legs to prevent scratching. Wear socks instead of shoes, and keep pets’ nails trimmed. Dust mop with our Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Mop at least once a week to pick up dirt.

Maintain the shine with regular cleaning. Use Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner or Quick Shine® High Traffic Hardwood Floor Cleaner in our Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Spray Mop. For lighter cleaning, simply dry dust with the mop or damp mop with plain tap water.

Before you consider sanding and refinishing worn or dull hardwood floors, refresh their original shine with Quick Shine® Multi Surface Floor Finish or Quick Shine® High Traffic Hardwood Floor Luster. Be certain the floor is free of dust, pet hair, dirt, and debris by dry dust mopping or damp mopping with plain tap water. Then just squirt and spread Quick Shine® Multi Surface Floor Finish or Quick Shine® High Traffic Hardwood Floor Luster. Your floor can gleam like new without the expense and hassle of a complete refinishing. High-traffic areas (including any “lanes” or worn spots) should be freshened every two to three months, and light-traffic areas every four to six months. Even heavily worn floors can be bright again after two or three coats.

If you plan to use Quick Shine® Multi Surface Floor Finish or Quick Shine® High Traffic Hardwood Floor Luster, do not clean the floor with oil soap, pine oil, orange oil, ammonia, vinegar, or any other all-purpose cleaner. These cleaners can leave an oily residue or detergent haze that interferes with the bonding process of Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Finish.

STONE AND TILE FLOOR CARE

Stone and tile flooring is often used in humid climates because it is cool and resistant to the degradation properties of water. And because stone and tile are moisture-resistant, they are often used in bathrooms. Here’s how to bring a deep, rich gloss to your stone and tile floors without damaging the grout or surface:

Prevent wear by keeping floors clean. Use rugs or floor mats at entries to pick up abrasive materials before they are tracked in. Be certain the floor is free of sand, dust, pet hair, dirt, and debris by dry dust mopping or damp mopping with plain tap water, Quick Shine® Multi Surface Floor Cleaner or Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner. (The re-usable microfiber bonnets in our Quick Shine® Pantry Tray are great for this!)

Refresh the shine with a coat of Quick Shine® Multi Surface Floor Finish whenever the floor needs a lift, typically every few months. Quick Shine® Multi Surface Floor Finish is a water-borne polymer formulated with an adhesion component. This means it adheres to surfaces such as marble, ceramic tiles, porcelain tiles, terrazzo and others. Always clean the floor before applying the finish.

If you plan to use Quick Shine® Multi Surface Floor Finish, do not clean the floor with oil soap, pine oil, orange oil, ammonia, vinegar, or any other all-purpose cleaner. These cleaners can leave an oily residue or detergent haze that interferes with the bonding process of Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Finish.

Make sure you follow instructions that come from the manufacturer or seller of your flooring materials, and spot-test in a hidden area if you are unsure whether a Quick Shine® product is right for your floor.

LAMINATE AND VINYL FLOOR CARE

Laminate and vinyl flooring is practical and cost-effective. Because the top layer of laminate is a protective vinyl, laminate and vinyl can be cleaned and renewed in much the same way, using our products designed for these floor surfaces. Here’s how:

Prevent wear by keeping floors clean. Use rugs or floor mats at entries to pick up abrasive materials before they are tracked in. Felt protectors on furniture legs can prevent scratching. Wear socks instead of shoes, and keep pets’ nails trimmed. Keep the floor free of dust, pet hair, dirt, and debris by dry dust mopping or damp mopping with tap water. (The re-usable microfiber bonnets in our Quick Shine® Pantry Tray are great for this!)

When the floor needs to be cleaned, use Quick Shine® Multi Surface Floor Cleaner. Dampen our clean microfiber bonnet with tap water, then squirt and spread Quick Shine® Multi Surface Floor Cleaner.

Note: Never flood laminate or vinyl floors with water. Water can penetrate where they are glued or snap-locked into place.

If your vinyl or laminate starts to look dull, refresh the shine with Quick Shine® Multi Surface Floor Finish. This water-borne polymer is formulated with an adhesion component. This means it adheres to surfaces such as vinyl and laminates. Always clean the floor well before applying the finish. If you plan to use Quick Shine® Multi Surface Floor Finish, do not clean the floor with oil soap, pine oil, orange oil, ammonia, vinegar or any other all-purpose cleaner.

FAQs

How many square feet will one 27-oz. bottle of Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Finish cover?
Approximately 500 square feet with one coat.

Is Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Finish a wax?
No. Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Finish is a water-borne polymer formulation. It protects floors and gives a rich, deep, protective glow to sealed hardwood floors, wood laminate, stone, tile, vinyl, and all other sealed hard surface flooring. Unlike wax products and oil-based urethane, Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Finish is much easier to apply, maintain and touch up. Also, it will never yellow and is slip resistant.

Is Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Finish a cleaner?
Although it does have some cleaning characteristics built in to the formulation, Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Finish is a water-borne polymer finish and should be used to enhance a floor’s appearance. It was developed as a gloss and color restoration for hardwood, laminate, tile, vinyl, and stone surfaces.

Can Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Finish be removed from my floor?
If Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Finish has not been properly maintained or applied, it can be removed with our Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner. This Deep Cleaner will not harm hardwood floors or other types of hard surface floors such as tile, vinyl, stone, marble and laminate. Simply dilute the Deep Cleaner in hot water and apply to the floor surface. Let stand for a few minutes, then scrub lightly. Do small sections of the floor at a time. Then remove debris and build-up from the floor with a clear water rinse. Our Deep Cleaner is also available in a kit that comes with a microfiber scrubber bonnet.

Should I use ammonia or vinegar to clean my floors? What about all-purpose cleaners, oil soap, or orange oil?
Though ammonia and vinegar solutions can clean some household surfaces, using them on hard surface floors will make your floors less shiny over time.

For light cleaning, clean your floor with our Quick Shine® Mop Pad dampened with tap water. For heavier soil, use the mop pad with our Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner or Quick Shine® Deep Cleaner.

Can the Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Mop be used to dry mop also
Yes. Damp or dry, our tightly woven, tiny micro-fiber material is very efficient at trapping dirt and loose debris. Try it both ways and see which you prefer.
