You Ask, We Answer: Quick Shine® Q & A

boy and girl playing on floor in background with Quick Shine products on floor in front

Quick Shine® Floor Care products are fantastic tools to revive and keep your floors looking new again!  Just like any other household product, customers might have some questions about it.  So today we are covering some common questions asked by our consumers.

Q:  Where can I find your Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster product?
A:  Our Floor Finish and Hardwood Luster are in most major retailers and some of your local ones as well.  Check out our Store Locator to see all the retailers where you can purchase our product.

Q:  When I was applying the Floor Finish to my floors, I sat the bottle on my table and it has dripped onto the surface.  How can I get this off without damaging my table?
A:  Anytime you accidentally get any drops of our Floor Finish or Hardwood Floor Luster on your table or counter, even after it’s dried, you can use Windex or Formula 409 to remove it.  Spray it on the area, let it sit for a minute or so then wipe it up with a damp cloth or sponge.  This method also works for customers who might have any over-splash on the bottom of their walls or appliances when applying the Floor Finish or Hardwood Luster on their floors.

Q:  What can I use to clean my floors with after I’ve applied the Quick Shine® Floor Finish?
A:  Routine cleaning using our Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner via our Multi-Surface Spray Mop and microfiber pad is the best process.  However, after applying the Floor Finish we recommend waiting 4-5 days before using the cleaner on your floors to give it time to fully cure.  You can always dust mop during the first few days to keep your floors free of dirt and debris.

Q:  I used the Floor Cleaner on my floors, but they are not shiny.  The bottle says Quick Shine® so can you help me understand what went wrong?
A:  This is a common misconception.  Quick Shine® is the brand name of our Floor Care products line; however depending on what your floor care needs are will depend on which Quick Shine® product you’d want to use.  If you are looking for a floor cleaner, you can use our Quick Shine® Floor Cleaner or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Cleaner as a regular cleaning agent.  If you are looking to give your floors a shine or to revive your hardwoods, you can use our Quick Shine® Floor Finish or Quick Shine® Hardwood Floor Luster to give your floors that WOW factor.

Q:  I applied the Quick Shine® Floor Finish to my floor and now, it looks streaky and cloudy.  What did I do wrong?
A:  Streaking is usually caused by a few issues: 1.) Not enough product was initially applied and you can correct that with an additional coat; 2.) There was residue on the floor before the Floor Finish was applied.  For example, other brand floor cleaning agents, or a vinegar solution; 3.) The same applicator pad used to clean your floors is being used to apply the Floor Finish; 4.) Not allowing sufficient time before applying subsequent coats; 5.) Trying to apply too many coats in a short period of time, not allowing each coat to dry completely.

    Hi,
I have put several layers of Quick Shine Floor Finish on my 30 year old (white) vinyl floor in the last 12 months. After each coat, I had a nice shiny floor and that WOW factor. Now, for some reason, my floor is turning darker and darker. And, as time goes on, I notice in random areas, an area about the size of a dime will ‘pull up’ revealing my original white floor underneath. Now I’m sitting on the floor and spraying this stuff with apple cider vinegar (what I read) to soften the edges a tiny bit and prying at it to lift enough of the polymer coating so I can pull it up. Some comes up in small strips, most comes up in bits. This is very tedious and my husband says ‘will take years’. How can I get this stuff off my floor easier? I need way more then a cleaner; I need something to remove it without damaging my floor and my respiratory system. Please advise. Thanks!

      Hi Connie,

You can safely remove Quick Shine from your floors with Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. After letting the Deep Cleaner sit for 2-3 minutes, mop away the solution. You should be able to see if the residue is off of the floor. You may have to add more solution if you notice the finish is not dissolving well. Finish with a clean water rinse to bring your floors back to their original condition. Quick Shine Deep Cleaner was specifically formulated to remove layers of our Finish so we are confident it will work properly. For more information, please contact customer service at 800-255-1891. We are always happy to help!

Help!!! November 1…..I faked my husband to clean our new vinyl plank floor and he accidentally used Quick Shjnex. And he only “cleaned” the area we walk on and the dog drools on😉. So I checked under the chair and sure enough, no shine and big glaring demarcation!!!! Everywhere!😁So. The flooring store says remove the quick shine, DONT add another layer. The plank floor isn’t supposed to be shiny anyway☺️. We have ammonia and white vinegar on hand. Store says have to mix ammonia in warm water. Many internet sites say NEVER USE AMMONIA!!!!” Would the store suggest ammonia so the floor wears quicker??? 🤔…….Do I’ve decided to turn to you at Quick Shine! What do you suggest? Thank you so much🙏

        Bonjour,

      Hi Candace,
We recommend waiting a few hours before placing furniture back on the floors. It is also crucial that you lift instead of scoot to avoid leaving scuffing behind.

        Hi John,

Although Quick Shine was formulated specifically for floors, many consumers have used it on a variety of other hard surfaces and craft projects. We just recommend testing an area first for satisfactory results.

I had a cleaning crew come in and they used the floor finish. They mixed it with water and then used a wet mop on my hardwoods and tile, after me telling them NOT to do that. I was able to get little drops up with Windex, but how do I fix the rest of my floor?! It looks God awful. Haaaaalp!

Quick Shine Floor Finish should not be diluted with water as it affects the adhesion to the floor surface. We recommend removing our Finish with Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. I used Quick Shine floor finisher and my floors (luxury vinyl planking) are streaked and look very uneven. I thought I had perhaps applied it unevenly so reapplied another light coat. They look horrible. I called my installer for direction, he said water and vinegar. It’s not working. We are heart sick. What can I do? I will send pictures. I am afraid to use more products. We have only had the floors a year and I was attempting to add a shine. Help please!!

          Hi Teresa,
Great question! We recommend applying Quick Shine Hardwood Floor Luster every 2-6 months when needed. You will simply maintain the shine by dry dusting or damp mopping with Quick Shine Cleaner (blue or purple labels) in between to clean. The shine is designed to last for months so unfortunately over time you could develop a buildup if used excessively.

Yes, Quick Shine can be applied to any hard surface flooring including painted concrete. We recommend using plain tap water to rinse your floors first from previous cleaning products. We also recommend testing a small area for satisfactory results.

      Teresa,
You can remove the stained area with a mixture of 3-4 tbsp. of Ammonia and 1 cup of HOT water. Apply solution to area and let sit 3-4 minutes before wiping away. This will completely remove our Finish and take you back to the original floor surface so you can reapply Quick Shine and blend back the shine. This method has worked for other consumers with similar issues.

Unfortunately this is not recommended as Quick Shine is water based and the shine will quickly dull due to outdoor elements.

Quick Shine is a pH neutral water based Finish that should be applied over sealed hard floor surfaces. Did our Finish soak into your tile or was it able to produce a shine on the tile? It really just depends on how porous the flooring is. The sealant may not adhere or perform over a Finish.
