How To Remove Overspray From Walls & Other Surfaces
I received a call the other day from a frustrated consumer who noticed his housekeeper splashed some Finish onto his painted walls, baseboards, leather furniture, and his ceramic tile in the upstairs bathroom while cleaning his hardwood floors. I could just picture his housekeeper rocking to her favorite songs while cleaning away without careful attention to detail. It is important to remember when applying a Finish, that you are expecting long-term results and a whole lotta shine so detail is key in providing that new floor look.
Let’s start with a few application tips.
- Start with a clean dry surface. Dry dust or vacuum to remove any dust, debris, or pet hair. If you have been using a different brand of cleaner you will want to damp mop your floors with plain water to remove any possible residue.
- Squirt Quick Shine Floor Finish in an “S” pattern onto a 5′ section and immediately spread with a clean, damp microfiber mop. Work quickly and keep a wet edge to avoid any smudging. When applying, do not squirt close to walls, furniture, or appliances as this is when overspray can occur. It is better to squirt further away from these areas and spread towards them.
- Don’t trap yourself in the room. Work towards the exit of the room and remain off of the floors for approximately 45-60 minutes.
- Additional coats may be applied (2 recommended) for added durability or if a higher gloss is desired.
If this has happened to you and you are desperately seeking help to remove any unsightly spots, here is a quick solution.
- Reach for a bottle of Windex (with Ammonia), Formula 409, or our Quick Shine Deep Cleaner (2-3 tbsp. per cup of HOT water).
- Spray the solution on any surface and let sit for 1-2 minutes before wiping it away with a clean, damp cloth. For furniture, carpet, or painted surfaces, simply blot the area until the finish has completely dissolved.
- Voila! Bye, Bye Overspray!
I haven’t used your products since I was a girl. I am 40 yrs old so Now that I’m all grown up I have hardwood floors of my own and tile I also have moral tops and and I’m curious on how to keep both clean but that let looking dull all the time I would love to try out your mop trial if still available.

I used your product with a Bissell spin mop because I thought it would add more shine. Now…. I can see everywhere I used the this. Mop. Please tell me this is fixable as I am crying!

We recommend removing the compromised shine with Quick Shine Deep Cleaner. Our Finish works best with a microfiber mop or sponge mop when applying and does not need to be buffed for added shine.
